Experience the glamour of the 1940s at the Lyceum Theatre, a West End theatre located in the City of Westminster. The theatre, which dates back to 1765, is prominently featured in The Crown, hosting Claire Foy (Queen Elizabeth) and Matt Smith (Prince Phillip) in their timeless roles.
Ely Cathedral, a noble Norman structure in the historic riverside city of Ely, Cambridgeshire, serves as a stand-in for Westminster Abbey on Queen Elizabeth’s wedding day. The cathedral’s historical significance and architectural beauty make it a must-visit location.

Although Wrotham Park isn’t open to the public, its neo-Palladian house, completed in 1754, remains a sight to behold. It’s available for private functions, banquets, and parties, and its care and charge remain in the hands of the Byng family.
Our journey concludes at Knebworth House, a magnificent building in the Hertfordshire countryside that served as a location in The Crown. Crowned with turrets and domes and adorned with gargoyles, it’s no surprise that Knebworth House is a favourite among filmmakers.
In January 2023, the crew from The Crown were spotted at Winchester Cathedral, setting it up to prepare to film scenes for Princess Diana’s funeral. The gothic church was taking the place of Westminster Abbey, where the late Princess’s funeral took place in 1997.
Winchester Cathedral has been used in previous seasons of The Crown, notably standing in for St Paul’s Cathedral for the funeral of Prime Minister Winston Churchill (John Lithgow) as well as the 1981 wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.
